Animation and Technology in Education.
Education has appeared in many forms. Major thinkers have always recognized the value of intellectual exploration and experimentation. Teachers, too, have always worked to shape desired convictions, knowledge, and behavior. Animation can used to provide extra help where it is needed.
Animation is a series of still images. It could be of drawings, objects, or people in various positions of incremental movement. However, when played back, it produces a stream of unbroken motion. Consisting of a series of drawings or photographs on paper, animation can be viewed with a mechanical device or flipping through hand-held sequence of images. Animations could be seen on films, video, or computers ("Animation", 1).
The explosion of new technologies has changed the way we live-from the way we do business to the way we communicate with each other. Technological advancements are also affecting the way we teach and learn. Students and teachers are learning new skills to live and work in this digital age; one is the use of animation.
Today animation has an enormous impact on their lives. They can't turn on the television without being blindsided by the new technology that is taking place. Seen in blockbuster and Hollywood movies and television advertisements, you can see babies singing arias, bowls of cereal dancing, or animals acting like regular humans than soap-opera stars do. This is all thanks to the sophisticated computer animation. Indeed, our children our affected by it.
In thinking about education, most people do not understand the impact that technology has on students in their daily lives. Many schools and students are missing out on the richness of this technology. Today, interactive, multimedia technology provides us with new ways to draw upon children's natural impulses. This new holds an abundance of materials including animation. Bringing all these new media together means that we can vastly expand the range of learning experiences, opening up social and natural worlds.
