Whas It Necessary To Drop Tha A-bomb?

On August 10, 1945 the Japanese surrendered, just one day after the bombing of Nagasaki. (Windle J. T. (2001) unnecessary Evil. The Fence.).
The argument against dropping the atomic bomb was both military and moral. On the military side the U.S. had achieved air superiority over Japan and had already firebombed cities. Using the A-bomb was necessary since the same result of destroyed cities would have been done with conventional weapons. The moral argument was that it would destroy cities instantaneously. For Christians and many others, the A-bomb was an over excessive kill. (Windle J. T. (2001) Unnecessary Evil. The Fence.

Today many people argue weather or not the atomic bomb was completely necessary to drop? Was it necessary to go to such drastic measures? First we must look at what was going on at the time the decision was made. The U.S. had been fighting the massive war since 1941. Moral was not most likely low, and recourses were at the level as moral. All though, each side continued to fight to win the war. The best possible answer was to bring the war to a halting stop, also minimizing U.S. casualties. (Was it Necessary? (2001). 4 essays data section.).
What do you think would have happened if we did not drop the a-bomb? The war would halve defiantly continued. The U.S. would have gone into Japan. The number of casualties would have been unimaginable. It's a fact that if we would have invaded Japanese there Gov. were supplying civilians with spears, guns, knifes, anything they could get their hands on. Japan would have continued to fight the war, and this would have taken much longer. It was the atomic bomb that forced Japan to surrender and it saved hundreds of thousands American soldier life's.
