             There have been many ethical questions that are raised by our issue. First, there is the rights given by the First Amendment. This has been under stipulation because some people feel that not everything should be exposed, while others feel the media has the right to inform. What role does the First Amendment play in regards to those who feel that more discretion should be used when reporting? .
             A rating is an estimate of the percentage of the total number of people or households inn the total population tuned to a specific station or network during a specific time period. .
             Ratings quantify the value of television advertising. They also help determine the success or failure of TV programs. Ratings are an objective estimate of television audience size and composition for the buyers and sellers of TV advertising and for television programmers. They are the currency for a 45 billion dollar national and local TV as industry. They also form an independent, third party embracing the highest standards of accuracy and integrity.              The v-chip (violence chip) is a device that monitors the amount of violence and sexual content on each program. Parents who are concerned with their children watching too explicit shows are effected by the v-chip. The v-chip is also a good thing to have if the parent(s) are not home when their children come home from school.
             You can set the device so it blocks any shows with violence and sexual content in it. It has many advantages. Sometimes though, parents find it difficult to work with, but overall, it is effective. This particular device can be used when those feel that more discretion is needed on today's television programs.
             Another ethical question is the etiquette that reporters have when presenting the news. How exactly should a reporter act when delivering news of a murder?.
             After the recent tragedy, Dave Letterman broke down and started to cry.
