Tropical Rain Forest

In the rain forest you can find many different and exciting things. Sometimes the altitudes are high so temperatures are cooler. The average humidity is between 77 and 88 percent. Rain Forest has as much as 80 or more inches of rain in a year. The soil in the rain forest is very poor. The top layer of soil is usually only an inch deep. .
There are many producers and consumers in a rain forest. One producer is the vine. Sometimes vines wrap themselves around a huge tree trunk. It does this so it will have sunlight to grow. Another producer is an epiphyte also called an air plant because it sits on a branch of a tree or tree trunks. Another producer is a parasite. Parasites live off of other plants. They don't make their own food directly from the sunlight. Some consumers are marmosets, orangutans, anteaters, and tapir. Marmosets are one foot long and their tails are longer than their bodies. Orangutans grow from three to five feet tall. They are also very strong. Anteaters have no teeth, with very small mouths. They eat termites and other insects. Tapirs look like large pigs. They have thick and heavy fur. The tapir's population is decreasing because hunters aimed mostly for them because their hides are considered desirable.
The abiotic factors that are found there are rocks, soil, and water. The rocks were sometimes used for small animals to hide behind. The soil was very poor in nutrients, because the trees that covered the rain forest captured much of the water. The water was used for animals to drink and clean themselves.
The rain forest was very interesting because there were many different kinds of plants and animals. Some of the plants and animals I never heard of but I learned a lot. That is why I liked the rain forest because of the plants and animals.
