             there was a belief in one or more gods who governed the seas, land, air, the crops, and .
             even a god of fertility. When different lands and continents were discovered by conquerors, .
             they came upon the natives of these islands and place who had a much different way of .
             worship than they did. There were stone gods or idols that these natives prayed to. In the .
             colonies, at the time of Columbus's discovery they believed in the symbols of dreams and .
             they used animals as a way of guiding their every action. These animals were signs of a .
