Anger and Jealously Destroyed the Lives of Innocent People.
The play of the movie is based in the well-known book called The Crucible by Arthur Miller. This play is about the witch trials and witchcraft in the town of Salem where emotions, such as anger and jealously played a important "character." That is why I pick "Anger and jealously destroyed the lives of innocent people" as the main theme of the movie. And this theme is very related with the movie and the play of it. I will discuss some of the differences between the movie and the book and how the theme of the movie is related with the book.
Anger goes through the minds of every character in the play of the movie. For example when Mr. Parris is angry at Abigail Williams because he thinks that she is not telling him all that happened in the wood the night when Parris found Abigail and the other girls dancing. With this problem Parris" job as a minister in Salem is in danger that is why he must know what the girls did in the woods that night. In addition, anger growth and is very evident when Abigail got mad at the other girls because of what they know and what they can confess. Another big sign of anger in the movie happened when Abigail got mad and very angry because of what are the Proctor's feelings towards Abigail.
Jealously was one of the emotions that played an important factor in the play of the movie and also in the book. One of the main examples is when Abigail stated that she saw Goody Proctor with the devil. Obviously, she did say that because of the envy and the jealousy she feels towards Elizabeth. When Proctor repels Abigail she takes vengeance towards Elizabeth and her jealously goes beyond that's why she also condemned other people. And the other girls did too.
Abigail is the true evil of the story; she uses her anger to intimidate the other girls because of what they know. She took control of them and manipulated them not to speak a word of what happened.
