Jack lacks experience with the courting of a woman never mind being married and as a result is struggling with the transformation. He is even worried about how the town's people will accept his new bride and hastens her home in order to avoid being seen. The fact that Jack is now a family man with more personal response means he is no longer interested in duels. Scratchy Wilson realizes this and is forced to walk away from the new Jack Potter.
