' After this little mishap Mike resorts to staying in his "stuffy apartment, drinking orange juice" mourning more about not having a girlfriend, while looking over pictures of the one he left behind in New York. This is an example of the "need for nurture." (Fowles) Altogether he is basically feeling sorry for himself. Here he feels a sense of loneliness, like he is unwanted, which is a definite relation to most people's thoughts and feelings after someone leaves them and turns there back. .
The second character is Mike's best friend in the movie, Trent, who is played by Vince Vaughn. Trent, a wannabe actor, who with his "slang-spouting"(Turan 2) personality like "you are so money" (meaning how cool somebody is or how good they look) and "beautiful baby" (describing women) seems to be the leader of the group. Furthermore, with his constant bar-hopping and woman chasing techniques try to get Mike out of his drought. In the movie it seems that the parties are scheduled for 8 and the guys do not get going till midnight. In addition John stated, "the spectacle of everyone traveling solo in their cars and simultaneously locking up with the Club. The funny thing is the guys are looking for women the whole time at these parties and nightclubs feeling cool, while looking a little foolish in the process.
