There is no doubt that my outlook on everything I have ever encountered has been .
shaped by my family in one-way or another. Although I do not have a lot of political .
opinions, I do pay attention to what is going on with our politicians and the current events .
of our country. I will not deny that I have a strong opinion about everything, and it tends .
to get me into trouble at times especially when I don't know what I"m talking .
about.
.
One strong political opinion comes from living and growing up .
in Utah, I am a strong believer that church and state should remain separate, yet for some .
reason here our politicians pull the church right in with them. My latest opinion comes .
from two men in the senate that think that getting rid of birth control and abortion is their .
problem, as if anyone here is on birth control anyway! I believe that if you are not a .
woman and have no possibility of becoming pregnant it is none of your damn business. .
These opinions come from being in a large once-Mormon family that swung a one-eighty .
years ago. We were the family that kept all the "good " girls in the neighbor hood from .
getting pregnant, while their mothers were oblivious to their daughters problems, yet it .
was nice to someone that could help. I have also been through two abortions in my .
immediate family: one for medical reasons, and one for psychological. To look back on .
these events years later we all realize it was the best decision these two women could .
have made, and no one has any regrets. So how anyone believes someone does not have .
the right to make a decision about his or her own body is beyond me and it strikes a very .
personal chord.
Having my mother being on her fifth marriage I am terrified of marriage. I .
think of what a waste all of these relationships were and how you can never get that time .
back. I believe it is a lot of wasted time and energy that you could have been putting into .
