Increasing Job Satisfaction and Preventing Burnout

The quality and fulfillment of ones career is heavily based on job satisfaction. The majority of one's adult life is spent at work, five days a week and eight hours a day, not to mention overtime and long days to meet deadlines.
Currently I work for Intel Corporation, a well-known high-tech corporation, which offers several courses and programs for personal and professional growth and development. These courses and programs are one of the many advantages that Intel offers that keep the workforce constantly challenged while increasing job satisfaction. .
One workshop was most enlightening and caught my attention was "Increasing Job Satisfaction." The workshop consisted of three major topics/ factors that contributed to job satisfaction, growth and development, and how to prevent burnout. The class took an in-depth look at some of the factors that increase job satisfaction and staff motivation:.
             achievement.
             recognition for accomplishment.
             challenging work.
             increased responsibility.
             growth and development.
             Achievement.
Achievement is a sense of accomplishment or successful closure of a task or activity. In the class we discussed some of the ways that Intel managers and subordinates strive to fulfill their sense of achievement. One of the ways that Intel achieves this is by encouraging workers to set professional individual as well as group goals. Gradually increasing the complexity of assignments so the workers are challenged and experience success in more difficult situations. Intel schedules daily, weekly and quarterly meetings to encourage group collaborations and group evaluations to set goals and measure achievements.
             Recognition.
Recognition is the acknowledgment of an individual's or group's efforts, accomplishments, or contributions. Intel managers recognize staff efforts and accomplishments by highlighting staff efforts and contributions in meetings. Inform a worker verbally and/or in writing that his/her work is appreciated.
