Romania

A year ago I met a girl from Romania through a friend that was dating her. She seemed very interesting, though it was difficult to get to know her because she is shy. When assigned this project I knew that I wanted to interview her. This project gave me an incentive to get to know her better. I enjoyed the opportunity to work with her and to learn more about her native culture. Her full name is Anca Maria Dragan. She is from Hunedora, Romania. About seven years ago, at the age of twelve, she moved to America with her dad, mom, and younger brother. When she was nine years old, her dad entered a nation wide lottery system to win a trip and citizenship to America. When she first mentioned this lottery I was very confused. I asked her to clarify it for me. At first I was completely in awe that the demand for relocation to the United States was so great that a lottery system was created for this reason. I often complain about problems I have. I found it humbling that foreigners !.
would love to come over here to experience in my problems. This brought to my attention how many things in life I take for granted. Many of the little things that we complain about, would be considered desirable by people in other counties. Not having a fraction of what we have many people have found happiness.
Anca and her brother came home one day after school and her mom and dad awaited them at the door. "They said they had some exciting news for us." After sitting down in the living room, her dad told the kids that they had gotten a letter from the state saying that they had won the lottery. Three years had passed since he had entered it. Anca thought it was to good too be true and didn't believe that it would really happen. Two months later, they got on a plane to come to America. They first settled in Michigan in there host's home. Anca told me that she was very excited to come to the U.S. because this was almost everyone's dream in her home country.
