Remember The Titans

"Remember the Titans- is a Must See.
"Remember the Titans- is a must see sports drama, dealing with issues of racial injustice and integrated teamwork. Throughout the entire movie, the talent of the cast brings the movie to life. Based on a true story, the movie exhibits a lesson on how we have advanced as an integrated society today, and that people's actions and feelings toward each other have changed in only a few decades. The movie received excellent reviews, and may be enjoyed by any type of viewer because of it's PG 13 rating.
The movie begins in 1971, plotting two high schools in Alexandria, Virginia, who had been separated by their racial status. They were merged into one called T. C. Williams High School. This was much to the protest of countless townsfolk, who at that time, believed racial mixing was an insult and unnecessary. The local school board was faced with a dilemma, and was forced to hire an African-American football coach, Herman Boone, played by Denzel Washington. While Boone's mission was to coach his team to a championship on the field, he battled to break racial barriers between the members of his community. Throughout the movie, Washington acts as a prideful civil rights symbol and a determined coach, both on and off the field. Being his second consecutive film to tackle racial issues, it seems like he is trying to prove a point as he acts. Boone replaces a white coach, Bill Yoast, played by Will Patton, and faces the challenges of a small town poisoned by racism. Yoast was the popular white coach that had to eventually settle for an assistant coaching spot on the team. Boone strongly believed in teamwork, and that was what he gave to his players in a way that Yoast could not. Patton had to swallow his ego, having to accept what was handed to him. The players are what make this film come to life. During the season, the team's Captain Bertier, played by Ryan Hurst, finally puts his prejudices aside and accepts his black teammates.
