Pop Culture

l always remain a classic. People stopped watching Sonny and Cher and Happy Days and started watching different things. The times, they were a changing.
Then there were the seventies. This was a time of plat form shoes, go-go boots, and the continuing bell-bottom trend. People began listening to disco music, like the Bee-Gees and the Village People. The new catch phrase was "groovy," and everything really was "groovy" in the seventies. Everyone was watching TV shows like Charlie's Angels and the Brady Bunch. Every teen-age girl wanted to be the next Marsha Brady. People began obsessing over stars like John Travolta after seeing the new movie, Saturday Night Fever. Much of the seventies "pop" culture is still around today, at least I think it is. It is not necessarily part of our pop culture, but it is still somewhat part of our culture. People still love to go out dancing to disco, wear bell-bottoms, or flares, and watch the Brady Bunch. Some things just never grow old. .
In the 80's things completely changed. Everyone began wearing oversized sweaters, tight rolling their jeans and pulling their socks up over their pants. Girls began teasing their hair and making it go as high as possible. Everyone was obsessed with Michael Jackson's "Thriller," although, I was personally scared of it, and doing the moonwalk. Heavy metal music also hit its popularity high, as well as new rap sensations like the Beastie Boys and Vanilla Ice. Teen-age girls began going crazy over the new group New Kids On The Block. There was no more Charlie's Angels or Brady Bunch, there were new shows like Family Ties and The Facts of Life. There were also new movies like Back to the Future and The Breakfast Club. Out of these movies came the new big stars of the decade, like Michael J. Fox, Molly Ringwald, and Anthony Michael Hall. All of these things seemed cool at the time, but not these days. No one would be caught dead wearing tight rolled jeans or teasing their hair up really high.
