On June 5, 2000 he was arrested for hitting a man that was kissing his wife, Kim Mathers, in Michigan. The next day he there was an incident with the Insane Clown Posse where he brandished a previously concealed weapon. Besides his physical crimes, he has caused much controversy in the last year or so with the lyrics of his songs which are argued (and not disputed by many) to be homophobic, misogynic and definitely X-rated. At a concert in Canada, Eminem called a critic, Valerie Smith, a bitch, violating Canada's Hate Crime Law.

The most disturbing of all these offenses is that he allegedly has been abusing ferrets, which is unforgivable. In December, 1999, a volunteer ferret rescuer claims she took one dead ferret and another scared one from Tyson's Las Vegas home after being called to the residence by one of the former heavyweight champion's aides. .
