Parenting Abilitiy

Parents that are mentally retarded does not always affect their children genes. Children do not always have the same characters as their parents. There are many different types of mental retardation; it would depend no how serious it is before anyone should consider taking the child away from parents. .
Parents that were born with these problems would be able to help the child more. The parents would have been through everything that the child must face, during childhood, teen years, and adulthood. When a child is placed in foster care the foster parents might not be able to help the child while the child is going through a difficult period in their life. No one can have that bond with the child then the natural parents. .
The genes that made the parents mentally retarded might not affect the Child. When a mother and father carry the same gene that just means that the unborn child has a greater chance being affected by it or the child could just carry the gene but not effected personally. My example is: my family has a trait for high blood pressure, not everyone in my family has high blood pressure, this reinforce my point that there is a chance that the child could not be effected by this gene at all. .
There are many different forms of mental retardation. This should be taking in consideration if the parents are a serious case or not. I think that the child should stay with their natural parents, unless their case of mental retardation is that bad or they are abusing the child. There are a lot of children that have unfit parents but they are not put in foster care unless the parents do something horrible to them. Just because the parents are mentally retarded does not mean that they would love or care for their child any less. I think it would be in the best interest if the child to be with their parents. There should be a test for the parent to complete to see if they are fit to raise their own child.
