Physical Activity Promotion and School Physical Education

Physical Activity Promotion and School Physical Education. Presidents Council on Physical Fitness and Sports Research Digest, Series 3, No. 7, 1-6.
For children ages six through seventeen obesity and lack of cardiovascular health has become a nation wide concern among parents, the Surgeon General, and physical educators. These factors are now problems because of the lack of emphasis on a healthy lifestyle filled with physical activities and balanced diet. The healthy lifestyle aspect is not expressed in an inviting enough manner to keep the youth ,in the afore mentioned age group, active. The unattractiveness to live a healthy life filled with exercise and good eating habits is what causes our youth to avoid the acts of such.
The author has biased dealing with the physical activity of children at a young age and the physical activity of teenagers. I find this to be biased because he didn't mention that from Pre-K up until 9th grade that physical education and physical activities are required, and that after that point since they are no longer required teens feel no need to engage in physical activity nor do they have physical education classes to choose from unless they are active in a school sport. He also made mention of self reported physical activities comes from 73.9% of students enrolled in physical education classes, and again he failed to mention how many of these students are athletes.
