Natural Selection: My Advantage at Varsity Softball Tryouts.
1 Charles Darwin's essay "Natural Selection" defines natural selection as one group possessing an advantage over another group, this advantage causes one group to survive and the other will cease to exist. 2 Although survival was not at steak, the girls who will be chosen for the team represent the survivors because these girls have the advantage of skill over the girls who will be cut. 3 Charles Darwin's essay " Natural Selection" and his idea that a group or species with a slight advantage will survive over another applies to me in the varsity tryouts held by my softball coach Keith Lowe in March of my eighth grade year at Patchogue Medford High School in Medford, New York.
4 Charles Darwin's essay "Natural Selection" and his idea that a species with a advantage will survive over another species applies to me during the varsity softball tryouts in eighth-grade because of the advantage I had a being the invited to try out by the head coach before the tryouts took place in March.
5 Even with a senior as my competition for third base my skill playing the field acted as my advantage over her. 6 My advantage over the senior third baseman Heather Long was my quick hands, reactions at third base, and that I displayed them all in the tryouts held in March. 7 Heather looked surprised during the beginning of tryouts on a cold day in March when we were all taking ground balls in the field, and I was doing really well. 8 The tryouts became a competition, as it seemed, between her and me. .
9 When coach put us in our positions on the field Heather and I took turns at third base, she messed up four times, while I was perfect the whole time. 10 Coach was very impressed and he shared this by continuing to complement me on the great job I was doing. 11 Everyone at the tryouts were impressed with the job I was doing they expressed this by coming up to me at the end practice.
