            Muhammad the founder of Islam was born into a prosperous merchant family at Mecca in Arabia about A. As a young man he entered the family business and served for a time as a camel driver and trader. Muhammad lost both of his parents while growing up. He also came from a tribe called Guroush. Muhammad became distress about the social injustice and corruption that he found in Mecca. After getting married to his first Muslim wife Khadijah, he had a daughter Fatima. It was said one night after dinner that his wife had made. He always went out for a walk in the city. He stared at a distance into the stars. While he was lying on top of a mount an angel named Gabriel had come forth onto him. Who told him that he was to be the next prophet to spread the word of God. From there came the Koran. The Koran is the next Bible. The Koran was the latest version of the Commandments. Koran is written in Arabic. The religion is Islamic and the person in this religion is !.
             called a Muslim. God is referred to as Allah. When his preaching attracted a few people he decided to move up North to Medina in 622, a journey known as Hejira. Muhammad's preaching focused on the assertion of one god. .
             There are six beliefs in becoming a Muslim. First, is to believe that Allah created the world. Second, that God has angels. Third, is to believe in his books. Which are the Old Testament, New Testament and the Koran. The fourth is to believe in the prophets. Which are Moses, Jesus and Muhammad. Fifth, is to believe of the "last day" (judgment). And finally, to believe in Pre-destination, that your path in life has already been decided. Which Muhammad being the last prophet he is the "Seal of the Prophet." With this belief come 5 duties. First, publicly proclaim that you are a Muslim. Second, you must pray 5 times a day to Allah. Third, give a portion of you earnings to the community or religion. Fourth, one month of fasting (Ramadan).
