Metrocard Vending Machine

Another industry that is using machines instead of people is the transit authority. The MTA are using machines to substitute the task of the token booth clerks. In this research paper, I will introduce both sides of the issue. Giving a prospective of the vision, which the MTA has in mind. You will also see the affects that some people say could occur due to the plans of the MTA.
In 1999, two years after the introduction of MetroCards, the MTA announce the debut of MetroCard vending machines (MVM). Another breakthrough for the MTA which would ease the line normally seen in front of token booth. This new invention also allowed straphangers to use their credit card to purchase a MetroCard which is not done through token booth. This will not only ease the congested lines found in front of token booth, but also allow individuals to purchase their MetroCards without having to expose any cash in the process. The new MVM will be expected to be fast and easy to use. You will be able to pay with credit cards, ATM/debit cards or cash. All you have to do to get started is touch the vending-machine screen. It will ask you what type of MetroCard you want and take you through the steps to buy it. You will be able to buy 7-Day, 30-Day Unlimited Ride MetroCard or 30-Day Express Bus Plus MetroCard, the $4 1-Day Fun Pass, SingleRide tickets, good for one subway or bus !.
trip only within two hours of purchase. (Bus-to-bus transfer only). You will also be able to refill (add money to) your MetroCard and you can trade-in an old MetroCard and transfer any money on it to a new card. The new MVM will accept American Express, MasterCard, Novus/Discover, VISA (maximum of two transactions per card a day), ATM/debit cards including NYCE, MAC and most others, and bills up to $50 and all coins, except pennies(2).
MetroCard Vending Machines can only return up to $6 in change, and the change given will include dollar coins, not bills.
