In this modern world there is not an absence of heroes. There are heroes in our every day society, our community and even in our homes. The problem is that we fail to acknowledge these heroes. .
In our every day society there are people that protect others. Until now we embrace these heroes because of the September eleventh tragedy. I am referring to the firemen, police officers, and paramedics. We have gotten to the point in which we realized how precious these men and women are to us. They risk there lives trying to help people in distress. Day after day, they put there life on the line for our everyday citizens. .
There are also heroes in our community. A great number of people help serve our community. There are volunteers that are involved in programs such as the neighborhood watch program. They try to make our community much safer for the children. There are also groups that serve the community like the Victory Outreach, Boys home, Boy/Girls Scouts. There are shelters that help homeless people by giving them food and a place to sleep. The biggest heroes that I can think of, in our community, are the teachers that truly care about there students. They try to help out in any way they can. They give us education and advice us on what to do for our future. There advice is appreciated because I as a student know that they understand what we are going through. They have had more life experiences and know more on the worlds expectations. For the most part, my teachers have really helped me out in someway. If these people are not heroes, then who is?.
Finally, for the most part our greatest heroes can be found at home. Our parents are our greatest influences. In most cases they try to do everything they can to try to get you ahead in life, and want what is best for you. Parents work a little harder to get you to succeed, because in the long run they know they cant always be there for you. They want their kids to go on to college and succeed because they want a better life for them.
