Government by Citizens

 

Since we all know that no one has flawless judgment, a society governed by a group of people has a better chance of being a better society. In addition, mutual interests of citizens are represented in a republic.
             Rousseau and Jefferson in their essays "The Origin of Civil Society" and "Declaration of Independence" suggest that common people should be active in politics governing themselves (Rousseau 65, Jefferson 78). Their opinion in this matter is influenced by their view of humans" equality in having rights to control their own destiny and duties of which I strongly agree. Rousseau and Jefferson did not explicitly write about the essential goodness of people, but their view of human rights implies that human are good enough to deserve these rights which are the right of liberty, the right to vote, the right to live securely, and the right of having properties are the basis of the law that are made for the benefits of all. Moreover, such government operates on these laws, and it is the duty of the citizens or the common people to obey these laws. This form of government is called a republic in which society lives by the rules made by its citizens. In addition, society is governed by!.

From the time of US declaration of independence, Martin Luther King, feminism, and the WTO, all seeks for basic rights for all human being. All of these people are fighting for their rights to be heard in their system of government so they can pursuit their goals. .
             In Machiavelli's monarchy, the prince provides security through force solely for his citizen, but not for outsider. Machiavelli believes that stealing is allowed when its purpose is to gain the wealth of his people. He expresses this opinion when he commented on taxing that a prince would be better off stealing from others than taxing or stealing from his own citizens (Machiavelli 42).
