History

History is the image of the past created by the play of imagination and intellect on the materials left by earlier generations. Research has shown that all people, primitive and civilized, have had their historians who told their narratives in epic poems or in prose. (Adapted from Collier's Encyclopedia, vol.12, 1992).

History, as commonly understood, may refer to events themselves or to the record of events. (Adapted from Collier's Encyclopedia, vol.12, 1992).
I believe that history is what made us what we are today and it defines our culture and our existence, not to mention our daily life. History is the chain of significant events that has occurred throughout the years. If for whatever reason, one event was somehow different, the whole chain would change and the future, which is our present, would be different. Why? Simply because history decides the future. It's sort of like this mathematical equation: 1+2=3. If 1 changes, the answer of the equation changes as well without a doubt. .
An example of my theory is the Lebanese war in 1975. How different things would have turned out if that war hadn't occurred. No predictions can be made concerning this issue, however, both extremes should be considered. Whether the changes would've been good or bad, it doesn't matter. What does matter is the difference it would've made. Instead of Lebanon being considered one of the less-developed countries, it would've caught up with evolution. Our younger generation would be out of control considering the fact that even now they aren't easy to handle. The country's economy might have been different. Whether to the better or worse, it also can not be determined. The percentage of the uneducated people today is 3%; it might have even decreased to 0%. Lebanon has one of the best educations in the Middle East and many recommend it. To what extent that would have been different is also undetermined. The loss of lives then, would have been added to the Lebanese population which would have increased.
