Nutrition in my Life

When first starting this assignment I didn't think that I was going to learn anything new that I didn't already know about my eating habits. After writing down a days worth of food and drink and then analyzing all the information and actually calculating out everything, I realized that there is so much more that I could learn in the future and will lean in the future about myself and the food that I eat.
There where many things that I learned from the Dietary Evaluation. One of the most important things was the Dietary Reference Intakes for my age. In the future, knowing my RDI will assist me in having more of a balanced diet. Knowing how to calculate my intake of Carbohydrates, fat, protein will help me plan better meals for not only me but also my family.
I will be more cautious of the foods that I do choose. I realized that many of the foods I on a daily bases are high in Colostral and Sodium.
Being able to calculate my kcalories for myself will also assist me in dieting. Now I know what my standard is and how much I need to cut out of my diet while still getting the essential nutrients and vitamins.
Having to remember everything I ate for a day and writing it down, I found it amazing that I ear a pretty balanced diet. In the future based on the one day diet I will also try to cut some things out of my diet that I do eat in excess and add others that I do not get enough of.
Another good point is that to truly have a balanced diet you need all the vitamins and nutrients in moderation. Even one serving of an item can cause you to go over your RDI. .
In the future I also will not be drinking as much soda as I do now. After seeing how the soda compared to other drinks, it is just empty calories that you could eat in other foods that have more nutritional value.
