Photo Montage

For task one I intend to investigate and execute a photographic montage, that will convey a certain theme and fulfil the requirements to complete this task at a high level.
Photo montage is using 2 or more photographic prints or negatives and combining them to make one print. This method is used world wide in many different areas and has a much greater effect than a single print because It can make photos look more professional with adding backgrounds and or emphasise a point like those needed to attract an audience in advertisements.
I remember seeing a brochure0 for an underwater exploration company that used montage to advertise their services. They had one of their submarines put onto a background of deep dark blue water between the giant cliffs of a canyon. The photo looked amazing and submarine looked tiny compared to the background. This portrayed the company as very professional and eye catching. .
             How to make a montage:.
Plan your montage by designing a preliminary sketch of what elements you will need to shoot and what background you will use.
Go out and photograph the elements individually as well as the backing print.
Develop all the prints you will need to use.
Mount the backing print on a hard sheet of card.
Cut out each element and paring down all edges with a scalpel and new sharp blade .
Arrange elements on the background and weigh down with glass.
Clean print surfaces and coat the back of each image evenly with glue. (avoid rubbery adhesives).
Apply pressure from centre out and clean up excess glue.
Then cover the montage with weighted glass and allow to dry or put it under paper in a cold dry mounting press.
Re-photograph and print your montage so it looks like one photo.

When I stared my montage I firstly brainstormed a few ideas for themes that I could base my project around, like life though a bugs eyes was one idea.
