Divorce

Many people do not know how much divorce effects children of all ages. One person has said, AHalf of the young people in study, for example were involved in serious drug and alcohol abuse, many before the age of 14" ( Kato n. pag.). Divorce has been seen by many families in recent years more so than in the earlier 1900's. Divorce does have a tremendous impact on the children involved.
First of all, children feel great feelings of fear during the transition period of a divorce. They are dramatically let down by their friends for finding a way to stay together. It is quite possible that they will lose trust in family members not just the parents because they are afraid that their other family members will let them down also (ASupporting Stepfamilies@ n. pag.). Children also are afraid of getting more responsibility after one parent moves out. They often terrified of the other parent leaving (ADivorce and children.@ n. pag.). They may feel abandonment from one parent leaving or from one not showing enough attention to them. They fear being like their parents and not being able to be in a stable relationship when old enough (Kato n. pag.). They may become afraid to form bonds to new family members or they might fear the parent might abandon them if someone new comes along (ASupporting Stepfamilies@ n. pag.). During the divorce the parents need to show!.
the children a great deal of love and affection. Make sure they know how much you love them and would do anything for them because it can take a long time for children to feel secure again (ASupporting Stepfamilies@ n.pag). .
Another one of the effects is the feeling of guilt. Children get the feeling that they are the reason that their parents are getting a divorce. Children may withdrawal from friends and family because of feeling that it is their fault. Many children believe that their Abad behavior@ was the reason for their parent leaving(ASupporting Stepfamilies@ n.
