A Separate Peace

             Later on, Gene and Finny are both going to jump from a tree branch (Gene resents doing it, but not listening to Finny never crosses his mind).              approve and Gene decides not to enlist. Gene begins his "'training"" for the 1944 .
             Olympics, because Finny believes there will be Olympic games held despite the war (Finny .
             thinks the war is a hoax). While Gene is having his physical training, Finny is being .
             tutored by Gene so he can get better grades. In a sense, Finny is becoming Gene and .
             Gene is becoming Finny. Gene gets in fights with two characters named Leper and .
             Brinks. Leper is a nerdy, quiet, and nervous fellow, and Brinks is at the head of his class, .
             and he is highly involved in school politics. When Gene gets in fights with them it shows .
             change in his behavior. Meanwhile, Finny dies because of bone marrow that escaped .
             from his broken leg, and Gene feels like he died along with Finny. This is another example .
