Robert Henri's Education

In Robert Henri's, Education, we explore the many ideas he has about education. He gives you advice about how you should take control of your own education, no matter how good or how bad your school is. Henri explains the importance of self-education thoroughly and carefully giving a certain style of writing that lures the readers into his thoughts. He believes self-education is a necessity in order to educate one's self.
You are in control of what you learn. "No matter how good the school is, his education is in his own hands. All education must be self-education." Many people, including myself, tend to believe that education is something taught, but what Robert Henri is saying is education is nothing taught, but something learned. No one can teach you, they are only there to guide you because only you can teach yourself. .
School is only there to help you."A school should be an offering of opportunity, not a direction, and the student should know that the school will be good for him only to the degree that he makes it good." I use to believe that school was something that my parents made me do, but I soon realized that school was a opportunity for myself to be educated and to succeed. School could only benefit myself not my parents or anyone else. Robert Henri believes the same concept, he believes that school is only there to help you, not hurt you. School is an opportunity for you to accomplish your dreams not to kill them .
You will succeed if you know how to. "The man who goes into a school to educate himself and not to be educated will get somewhere." You can safely assume that Henri is implying that a person who wants to be educated rather than being educated will succeed much more in life. A person is in control of his education, teachers are only there to assist in their path of success.
I really liked this excerpt from the art spirit, I thought the ideas that Henri brought were very interesting and straightforward.
