Patton stood in his command jeep surveying the frozen German Countryside ahead. There were broken forests with large areas of blackened ground and artillery blast holes all around with a thick layer of snow blanketing the recent battlefield. .
The reports G2 had received were both strange and unbelievable. Upon locating a large castle on a tall hill about 5 clicks from the 3rd Armies current location, elements of General Bradley's force reconnaissance had reported over the radio that strange creatures had flooded out of the castle and attacked them, and that they suspected the Nazis had some how created these creatures though the castle was devoid of any German Military personnel. .
It was at this point that the group came under attack and 1 lone PVC had made it back to a Forward Lookout Post babbling non-stop about Orc-like creatures and a fortress seemingly being built and run by varying types of monsters within the Castle and surrounding area. Of course it was agreed that the PVC was obviously traumatized by the events at the castle and must have been delirious so another party was sent to the castle, but they failed to report back in. .
At that time aerial recon. was ordered and sure enough the pilots reported seeing exactly what the PFC. Reported, and when the gun camera film was developed it shocked everyone including The Allied High Command who were so concerned about this new possible Nazi induced threat that they decided on sending none other than Gen. Patton to destroy whoever the new menace was with elements of his 3rd Army Division. .
Gen. Patton turned to his aid and ordered him to set up some field artillery at their current position and to send some Sherman tanks in a picket line forward with plenty of support troops. He also ordered that machine gun nests be set up to each flank and mortar crews to be established in the middle. .
Gen. Patton watched through his field binoculars as his first Sherman's came in contact with what looked like a tall wooden watch tower set up about 100 yards from the Castle Draw-bridge.
