Alfred Jones and Anna-Luise want to get married. But first, Jones wants to meet Anna-Luise's father. Fischer without an appointment so he has to come back a few days later. .

Chapter 4.
Alfred Jones went to Versoix for his appointment with Dr.Fischer. Before he had stopped in a English Pub called Winston Churchill. He drank two glasses of whisky and took a taxi. When he met Anna-Luise's father, the man wouldn't exactly to know where she lived and accepted by giving all the responsibilities. Dr.Fischer was more interested by the story of Jones about his hand.

Chapter 5.
Two weeks after the appointment Jones and Anna-Luise got married. There was only them with the witness called Monsieur Excoffier and one stranger was at the back. Anna-Luise said that he was a Toad. It was true and the man, Monsieur Belmont, gave an enveloppe to Jones from Dr.Fischer. It was an invitation for a party. Then the couple had their first quarrel about that but at the end Anna-Luise accepted that Jones will go to the party. .
Chapter 6.
Jones went to Geneva to see an important confectioner from Madrid on some business for the firm. After he left the Spanish in the restaurant he met Mrs. Montgomery. She pulled him into a shop for find gifts. While they were in the store they discussed and Jones discovered that the presents are for the Toads. And that Mrs. Montgomery bought those on the name of Dr.Fischer. .
Analysis.
Chapter 4.
Dr. Fischer is revealed as a powerful man, his controll spreadseverywhere, even in the police (p.24). With his money he can corrupt people like the Toads.
Before going to his appointment with Dr. Fischer, Jones enters a pub which looks like a typical English pub (p.25). Maybe that represents a part of the Swiss vision of English people.
When Jones asks the taxi driver about Dr. Fischer's house, the driver tells him to be careful. So even the simple people know Dr. Fischer as a negative person (p.26). And the taxi driver is the second person with Anna-Luise who warns Jones about Dr.
