Jeffrey Dahmer was a narcissist, a necrophiliac, somewhat of a sadist and a cannibal. In many ways he fit a typical sexual serial killer profile, but in some ways he didn't. His Childhood.
Jeffrey Dahmer's upbringing in some ways did not have the usual components of most sexual serial killers. He was not sexually or physically abused by his parents. He was not raised in financial hardship. In fact, he lived in an affluent home in Ohio with his university educated father and loving mother. upbringing but slowly he began to withdraw within himself and shut their influence out. Around six years old Jeffrey was found to have a double hernia in the groin area and required surgery to correct the problem. After the surgery, Jeff was not the same. By the time he hit first grade, the boy who had been happy and self- assured had been replaced by someone who was painfully shy, distant and rarely spoke. Perhaps this double hernia operation had some detrimental effect on his developing personality. At the age of eight, he was sexually molested by a friend who lived nearby. The incident was never reported and may have played a pivotal role in him targeting homosexual males. .

In his adolescent years his behavior fit the general profile of sexual serial killers. He was a loner and had difficulty relating to people.
