             Petruchio plans to lie and deceive Katherine. He will compliment Katherine when she is acting ill-tempered and not show signs of his displeasure with her. Petruchio is diligent with his plan and keeps sweet-talking her. Petruchio says, .

             The courtship between Katherine and Petruchio continues in a very strange manner. He puts on an act in front of Katherine's father so that her father believes that Katherine only acts angry and unhappy about their relationship in public and that in private, she is fond and loving. Petruchio says to Katherine's father, .

             She hung about my neck, and kiss on kiss.
             She vied so fast, protesting oath on oath,.
             That in a twink she won me to her love.
             Petruchio informs Katherine and her father that he is going to buy Katherine jewelry and fine things for their wedding day as though they have the perfect relationship.
