             The description of the story adds horror and suspense to the story by the way the author sets it up. Where in the start she gives the imagery of the growing grass and the boys are playing. And after shows that the people start to get nervous, this turns the idea in the readers mind that every thing is being changed or is not going to come out as they planned, which creates suspense. to maximize the total effect of the story.
             The story is told in the third person. This is ideal for this story because, since it is an uncanny event the reader might be affected if it's told from a characters point of view (it might be bias). Being told in the third person also gives a broader view of the event to take place. .
             However in this situation the lottery is something that results in some ones death. Which gives the story its suspense and makes the title ironic. and is gives a mixed message .
             - Black box and dot- the color black symbolizes darkness and evil. The box symbolizes the history and tradition of the lottery. leaving a lot behind.
             -Stones- the gruesome reward of the lottery, where the kids perceived innocently playing are arming them selves for a horrid event. and need to be shown.
             -Mr. Graves and Old man Warner- they represent the history and tradition of the lottery as well as the amount of faith every one has in the lottery. leaving them behind.
             The males are looked as the heads of the household and dominant over women. Women are seen in second place to all men, this relates to the possible themes of the story because it is symbolism for showing the old nature of the town, and its people as well as the events they partake in.
             A possible theme for the story would have much to do with the title of the story. What makes this story so different and special is its twist, which comes about a shock to all. Therefore the theme might be appearances can be deceiving, since the lottery appears to be good and ends up to be bad this theme would be relevant.
