Culture and Conflict

 

            
             The problem that exists in our world today is that because of lack of education and understanding, different cultures find it difficult to coexist peacefully. Because there is such cultural diversity in this world, there is conflict. Naturally as humans we fear what is different, It is impossible to overlook the fact that different cultures have different values. These different values sometimes cause conflict because for many people, it is hard to accept what is different. What one culture may value, another may disapprove of, and therefore a natural conflict is born. When cultures become involved with each other, they will naturally be exposed to that culture. The conflict then arises out of lack of respect for the other culture, or believing that an other's culture is inferior to their own and superimposing their culture on someone them. Cultures develop their children differently, whether it is teaching passiveness or aggressiveness. How we raise our children can be the key to avoiding conflict later in life, and what we believe as adults can lead to greater problems on a larger scale.
             Bringing the conflict in Iraq into mind, we see that two very different cultures clash culturally, causing physical action to be taken against one another. .
             America believes that we are fighting terrorism, but why is there terrorism? Why are we hated? Is it because we act like the worlds police unit? I believe that it is much deeper than that. Let us face the facts, what we teach our children is not always the same as what the rest of the world teaches theirs. As a member of a certain culture we segregate ourselves from other cultures, believing that we are different and perhaps more blessed. An example of this is,.
