The movie is based on a true story on young man named James "Radio" Kennedy. He consider by his mom is "the same as everybody else, just a little slower than most". The movie takes place in South Carolina in the 1970's. He would push carts around the neighborhood and collect his little treasures. He ended up near the high school. The football players wanted to have a little fun, Radio who was harmless was tie up and locked in the football shed. The couch of the football team soon found Radio. The coach name was Harold Jones he was a good man. He decided to have Radio round the football team. He felt really bad because of what his boys did. So he let Radio stayed with the team unpaid and he gave him hamburgers and a radio (which he loves so much, where we got his nickname from). Not only did he let him on the field but also he would tutor him after hours. The principle didn't approve because she thought it wasn't smart to have a "severe retarded" child at the school. He wanted the community to accepted Radio. The coach was also having problems of his own; his wife threatens to leave him. His wife thinks that he spends too much time with the boys on the field and Radio rather than his own family. In the end Coach Jones becomes a better coach, teacher, husband and father all because of Radio.
The movie to me wasn't the type of movie that I would cheer or get up and say "go Radio go Coach Jones". Don't get me wrong though cause it did bring tears to my eyes. I felt all the heart-warming drama that was going on. It was a very inspiring movie. I guess cause it was base on a true story that made it a little boring but interesting. I like that fact that they showed the really people in the end of the movie. .
