The Death Penalty

The world is an imperfect place, wrought with moral controversies of every kind. One of these controversies that carries subtantial weight today is that of the death penalty. The death penalty should be abolished because it is a risky punishment in which the final judgement is made by a human jury, and it takes away a person's right to live. .
What I mean when I say that the death penalty is a risky punishment is that the judgement made could be wrong, therefore killing an innocent person. There are many "precautions" made to make sure this does not happen, but the jury is only human. Because the jury is human, they rely highly on their emotions to make their judgments. The lawyers, who know this, may play up to certain emotions which may sway the members of the jury in one way or the other. I am not saying human emotion is a bad thing, just stating that it is not a reliable thing to base major judgements on. Also, each person has the basic human right to live. Although this right is said to be forfeit when a person rapes or murders another person, the jury is also taking a life by convicting the person. Although this is "justified" by the law, it is still taking a life. I am definitely not saying the person should get away free, but to take away their life is a little extreme. It is one thing if the person was seen by hundreds of people slaughtering others in cold blood, but quite another if there are no people who saw it and is just in a bad position. .
The death penalty is risky, the judgement is made by a human jury, and takes away a basic human right. Therefore, the rules of the death penalty should be changed, if not abolished comepletely.
