Everyone goes through changes along the way, but few stop to contemplate who they were and who they have become. I've taken this opportunity to show myself what has become of me. Who I am now is clearly the product of all the influence i've had in my life, but my dad definately has been the most influential person in my life, as my mentor. I believe he is a part of me, for his own life has shapped mine.
My dad's influence relys on the way he has lived his own life. Although he was born into one of the wealthiest family in Mexico, he had to face poverty by the age of twelve, when he married and had a dotter ten years latter he found himself in extreme poverty, the lunch store even let my dad owe them. He was looked down upon by his hown family, but he persevered, started from scratch and after nineteen years he owns a stable bussiness. He can now provide for his family which is the reason he fought for.
All the admiration I have for him and knowing that all the things he has been through give me blind trust in him. I've always tried to learn the best from him. Among everything he has taught me, respect and independence have been the most crucial for who I am today. This respect i've learned from him is not for wealth or titles, it is for individuals, with this respect came modesty, humility. The independence he showed me is not to be a loner, is to have friends to advice you but always decide by yourself. This two values have always been with me. whenever i find myself in a dilema i turn to them, and remember my dad, who knows whats best for me, because when im only going, he is already on his way back.
Throughout life we always encounter diverging paths. I found myself in a dilema when most of my friends started doing drugs, I looked for an advice with my father, and although he knew by own experience the best way to go; he gave me freedom to make my own desicion. I took the road least traveled, but my dad's advice is something that now i recall every day.
