Life Expectancies in Developed Countries

People in the developed countries tend to have a longer life expectancy rates than they did in the past. This is a result of the medical improvement, the presence of technology, and the recognition of human rights in today's advanced nations. The recent vast progress in the medical field is a major factor that prolonged the life expectancy rate. Firstly, a major change is the vaccinations being given to newborn children in modern time. This change could be featured by the different vaccinations given for people to prevent them from severe sicknesses that have killed hundreds in the past. Medicine has also improved its treatments for what we consider simple sicknesses in the present time. People in the past died for suffering from diarrhea, chicken pox, or even the flu. Nowadays, these sicknesses could be treated with a capsule or simple pills. Beyond that, the medical field has also improved by spreading the awareness of the importance of following a healthy diet. It is proven scientifically that malnutrition may result with heart diseases, cancer, diabetes or a poor immune system. This awareness could be considered a major contribution to the longevity of people today.
Technology has also helped in raising the life expectancy rate. Before depending on IT, people worked using their bare hands. Farming techniques, keeping records, and other things required an immense amount of physical work. This means that people in the past moved and used their bodies more than they do today. Thus, we can conclude that people's heartbeats in the past exceed the rate of an average person's heartbeats at the present time. It has been proven scientifically that with every heartbeat, the body produces particles called oxygen-free radicals. These little bodies cause the body to age. Thus, technology reduced the amount of oxygen free radicals produced by the body in our modern world.
In addition to the medical and technological improvements, the rise of the standard of living in our present time has promoted the extension of the life expectancy rate.
