The Main Characters in "A Good Man Is Hard to Find".
"A Good Man Is Hard to Find" was written by Flannery O"Connor in 1955. O"Connor used the third-person narrator to describe the trip of the Bailey's family and what happened during the trip. The times has changed from bad to worse, a good man is actually hard to find. Moreover, only when people faced to death, we could actually realize the true meanings of life. After reading this story, I pay more concern about the characters" personality characteristics, especially Grandmother and the man called Misfit. .
The first character I have more interested in is Grandmother. Although Grandmother is pious Christian, she always shows her individualism. At the beginning of the story, the narrator tells us the Grandmother wants to go to Tennessee not to Florida; and she wants to change the others" plan. Then, she brings her cat, Petty Sing, in spite of if her son like. She shows her selfish completely, but she always uses as an excuse. She says that there is an escaped convict in Florida and the children have gone to Florida once. She says she didn't intend for the cat be left alone in the house for three days because she worried the cat maybe bring about big troubles. However, at the end, when they faced the accident that they encounter the escaped convict, Misfit; she told him that he is a good man and told him he is her son in order to protect her life and her family's life. Therefore, in my opinion, when people faced to the fatal accident, they actually realized the true love is existed. .
The other person I have interested in is Misfit. Misfit is an escaped convict, but I don't consider that he is not a good man. He tells us something that his father told him. "it's some that can live their whole life without asking about it and it's others has to know why it is, and this boy is one of the latters." I supposed that he is a curious man. And he just wanted to know what he did wrong.
