Sweden is a country with a diverse culture and people.
government consists of a figurehead king and the Riksdag (Swedish .
parliament). The government is the force in the process by which their laws .
are changed. The changes a government wishes to make are set out in .
legislative proposals, or bills, which are then laid before the Riksdag. .
The Riksdag has 349 members. Elections for the members are on .
district levels every four years. The decisions of the Riksdag are based on .
proposals from either the government or motions put forward by members. .
The work of the Riksdag is led by the Riksdag Board, which is chaired by .
the Speaker. The members of parliament are divided into 16 committees .
which deal with some 200 Government bills.
Carl XVI Gustaf has been the Head of State of Sweden since 1973. In .
this capacity he is the representative of the entire country and as such, has .
only ceremonial duties and functions. The Head of State has no real .
political power and does not participate in political life. The Swedish .
monarchy is purely constitutional. The Head of State makes state visits to .
other countries and acts as host for representatives of other countries who .
are visiting Sweden. .
Sweden is mostly a parlimentary government, but it is also a .
monarchy. The King is the Head of State but serves no real purpose other .
than to act as an ambassador to welcome representatives. The parliament .
serves the needs of the people as well as what's good for the country. The .
country has a low crime rate and a high employment rate. The country works .
well with this form of government and wouldn't need another form of it. .
