            What are the advantages and disadvantages of the trade union presence at North-East Health Care? Make recommendations for a consistent management policy on union organisation, with justifications for you proposals.
             I am going to set out to show that I think NEHC would benefit from further trade union recognition amongst the workforce. Although there are both disadvantages and advantages to NEHC, I think the advantages outweigh the disadvantages and this is how I came to this conclusion. .
             Structure:.
             The essay will initially outline problems that appear to exist a NEHC, outline exactly what a trade union is and what it will mean to both the management and shop floor, discuss how a trade union may help resolves the problems and establish any other benefits that may be gained from increased trade union presence and participation at NEHC. Possible disadvantages of increased trade union presence will then be outlined as will possible management policies on unions. The recommendations will be last and summarised in the executive summary.
             Problems at NEHC:.
             There are a number of problems present at NEHC that need to be resolved as soon as possible for the benefit of both the company and the workforce. .
             Firstly there seems to be some communication issues between the workforce/shop floor and the management at NEHC - the attitude that exists is very much "them and us". With the communication issues that are currently present as NEHC it will be hard for the company to work effectively as a cohesive unit which would be best for the organisation as a whole. There are many different examples which demonstrate the lack of communication between the workforce and the management. Some of these examples are shown below:.
             By looking at the statistics at NEHC it is clear that there is very large amount of absenteeism amongst the workforce and also a very high staff turnover.
             It is outlined that a PRP scheme is being introduced at NEHC, yet before this decision was made the staff were not even consulted which has caused discontent among some members of the workforce.
