Atigone

List some reasons you think Creon should or should not of changed his mind.
If he would have changed his mind about Antigone, people might have look at him different. Although if he did not change his mind he would make everyone afraid of breaking the law or disrespecting him. .
I believe Creon should not have changed his mind because he was establishing a sense of order in the city, by setting an example. He is filling people with fear through Antigone to make people think twice about breaking the law. This, to me, is setting a sense of respect and honor. Although I do believe he went a little extreme in her sentence. .
Even if he had changed his mind fate would still act. Fate cannot be changed at all. In a sense he did change his mind in the play, when he heard what the prophet told him and right then he rushed to Antigone's tomb to free her. Fate still acted upon him by taking his wife and son. Although his pride is what sent fate his way, he could not of wielded it. .
When Charogas said "Big words are always punished" He probably meant that powerful people, in the end, are always acted upon by fate. There's no way around it. So it would not have mattered if he changed his mind because his wife and son would have died for his pride anyway. .
