The National Basketball Association allows Rodman to play because he averages over 10 rebounds a game. Major League Baseball should base their evaluation of Pete Rose on his athletic ability and accomplishments not his personal values.
             Pete Rose knew what would happen to him if he gambled on baseball. In 1919 Major League Baseball banned 8 players for life due to gambling. This incident has been highly publicized and made known to all America. These banned players are known today as the "Black Sox" rather than their true name, the White Sox. Major League Baseball was following protocol. Pete Rose knew he should not have gambled on baseball, but he did it anyway.
             Pete Rose had an unfair hearing. He was tricked into admitting that he had gambled. Baseball commissioner A. Bartlett Giamatti was trying to make history by banning Pete Rose. According to Rose, he and Giamatti had met earlier.
