I often wonder if I would be the same person I am today if not for my friends. They made a difference in my life by always being there for me and caring about me. I am a happy and cheery person today because of them. My closest friend Ashley has made a significant impact on my life, by being my friend in good times, and in bad. (Thesis statement).
She is the type of person who cares and truly understands. She doesn't always express her feelings the way she wants, but, deep down I know she cares. For example, last year my mom and little brother got into a car accident during the snowy month of January. It wasn't too serious, and they were both alright, but I was still upset. When I saw Ashley later, she was sympathetic and she felt upset as well, but she did not act too sad or overwhelmed. Instead, she made a few jokes and talked about other things which made me laugh, to relieve me of the stress. However, she did ask if I was alright and when I said yes she smiled and immediately changed the subject. She made jokes about the movie we were watching, and tried to get me to laugh. That's how I knew she cared. .
Ashley is funny and she's fun to be around. She has quite a sense of humor. One instance occurred when a lot of us, including myself, Ashley, and some of our other friends, were down at the beach. It was a hot, sunny day in the middle of July. The sun was perfect; so perfect you were able to feel its warm rays sinking into your shoulders and cheeks. .
As I was lying on a blanket that was beginning to heat up from the hot sand below it, I heard Ashley shriek and yell hysterically. As I lifted up my head to see what was going on, I saw her charging at me with a handful of something green. "Come on, let's get her! She's been lying here tanning all day," she yelled to the group. I laughed and yelled as they started to throw seaweed around and dragged me into the water. We had a seaweed and sand throwing fight.
