Abortion

Sixteen year old Kara sits in the waiting room of her local abortion clinic nervously. She wonders if she is doing the right thing. "It's fine. Everything is going to be okay, I mean after this it will all be over and every thing will be back to normal; just like before," she says to herself over and over again. If she only would have known that she was taking a chance that she may never have a child again or worse, taking a chance with her life, emotional well-being and health. Abortion should be illegal because it is murder, because it is a waste of human potential, and because it is very harmful to the mother.
Life- "The property or equality that distinguishes living organisms from dead organisms and inanimate matter, manifested in functions such as growth, metabolism, response to stimuli, and reproduction." A fetus is growing and everything that grows is living. After only four weeks the heart begins to beat. Recognizable organs have developed by the twelve weeks. If the heart begins to beat at four weeks, than is that not a living human being? If this is really life, than to abort has to be murder.
The Unborn Victims of Violence Act is another example validating a baby in the womb being a person, not a fetus. If a pregnant woman is killed by a violent act and her baby also dies there are two counts of murder according to this law. There is no stipulation for how far along the pregnancy has to be before it is considered a crime. The wording of this act doesn't calls the life in a womb "unborn children" not fetuses. How can they say that it is murder in this case and that it is not in the case of an abortion?.
There is a great waste of human potential due to abortions as well. Since 1973, when the United States Supreme Court legalized it more than 38 million unborn children have been aborted. There are 3,300 abortions performed each day in the United States alone. Think of all the doctors, nurses, inventors, preachers, and even someone who might have found the cure for a disease that is in the world.
