Jesus did not believe in killing, however even in revenge, which was used extensively throughout time as a proper reason for someone to kill, this was neither his word nor God's. His followers thought of Jesus during his life, as the Messiah in the Old Testament. There belief was that the Messiah would rise up against the evils of the earth and return God's people back to the Holy land (Israel). During his life, his followers were trying to encourage Jesus to rise up and take action with arms against the Roman Empire but in every attempt to persuade him, he would not undergo these actions. This also may have been why the Jews do not accept Jesus as the Messiah because their belief was not fulfilled as they expected. If God wanted the people of Israel or even peace on earth, then it would not take as long as it has. God wants people to have a choice in there lives. He set the rules in the beginning on how to live within a set of Laws. Then he sent his Son to remind the people that the Laws were not everything, but love for each other was also a critical part of peace. Jesus said. .
"You shall not kill; and whoever kills shall be liable to judgment. But I say to you that every one who is angry with his brother shall be liable to judgment." .
It is too bad people did not heed these words throughout the history of Christianity. Jesus believed completely in God's commandments, but He believes they were abused or taken out of context during the time. .
"Alas for you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You who are like whitewashed tombs that look handsome on the outside, but inside are full of dead men's bones and every kind of corruption. In the same way you appear to people from the outside like good honest men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness." .
As the gospel, spread through the large portion of the known Roman Empire and even to regions beyond, new churches began in Jewish synagogues and Christianity was seen at first, as part of Judaism.
