I believe the Bible is the word of God because:.
God selected men, most who were prophets, to write the Bible for Him (1 Samuel 10:25). A prophet is defined as a "inspired teacher or revealer of the Divine Will; one who foretells future events (Webster's New Dictionary)." God specifically told Jeremiah and several other authors to, "Write in a book all the words I have spoken to you (Jeremiah 30:2)." God rose up prophets in which he will put His words in their mouths (Deuteronomy 18:18-20, 1Kings 14:18, 16:2, 2Kings 9:36, 14:25, Jeremiah 37:2, Zechariah 7:7,12). These prophets are human agents who write down what God is saying to them. A strict punishment was given to those who claim to be God's prophets but aren't; they would be "put to death (Deuteronomy 18:20)." God was the source of the content of Scripture, so that what is written, is what God has said. The human authors actively spoke as well, yet what they said came from God, they were "carried along by the Holy Spirit (2 Peter 1:21)." The apostle Paul, author of 12 of the books in the New Testament, was given wisdom and authority from the Lord (2Peter 3:15-16) and he was commanded by God to write down his authoritative knowledge (1Corinthians 14:37 and 2Peter 3:2). .
The words that God gave to these prophets and authors were then put into written form and survived throughout countless centuries. In the times of Moses, scripture was written on tablets. Exodus 31:18 tells us that the "tablets of stone were inscribed by the fingers of God." These were God's actual thoughts, written directly by Him onto a stone tablet. Several other passages confirm that these were the inspired writings of God engraved on the Ancient Near Eastern tablets (Exodus 32:16, 34, Joshua 24:26, Deuteronomy 31: 24-26, Isaiah 30:8, Jeremiah 30:2). .
All words from God are true and genuine (Psalms 119:160, John 17:17, Proverbs 30:5). They are flawless, "like silver refined in the furnace (Psalms 12:6 and Proverbs 30:5).
