"A liberated Iraq,"" he added, "can show the power of freedom to transform that vital region (GU)."" Avi Davis and Khaleel Mohammed, in their March 8, 2003 WorldNetDaily commentary Don't Count on Arab Democracy Any Time Soon write, "Dictatorships thrive in the Arab world because strong men are admired and fill the authoritarian role in the popular imagination usually allocated to the father in traditional Arab society."" They explain the father's total, complete, unquestioned dominance of the "Arab nuclear family."" Absolute obedience is "expected- of the family in order to preserve the honor and security of the father. Waywardness, which amounts to resistance to the dominant power structure, is, according to the authors, "meted out."" The Arab population, they assert, is not yet prepared for the "self-mobilization- required to "enshrine freedom and human dignity- and that Western reform must precipitate such enshrinement. They are highly skeptical about the belief that democracy "will gain an immediate and firm foothold in a liberated Iraq."" .
             Bush II, however is not so skeptical. "The nation of Iraq,"" he proclaimed in his February 26 speech, "with its proud heritage, abundant resources and skilled and educated people, is fully capable of moving toward democracy and living in freedom.
