patton and the revolver

             was born november11th 1885 in San Gabriel,California to George Smith and Ruth Patton.
             Little George's father was a military man himself and he inspired him to do the same. Unlike many war heroes who had no intention of ever becoming famous, George Patton decided during childhood that his goal in life was to be a hero. This noble aim was first inspired by listening to his father read aloud for hours about the exploits of the heroes of ancient Greece. Homer's Iliad and Odyssey were particular favorites of young Georgie, who could recite lines from both texts long before he could even lift a sword. These classic images were filled out by recent war stories of living soldiers, particularly those of John Singleton ''Ranger'' Mosby. John often visited the Patton house and would entertain Georgie for hours with tales of his Civil War adventures. With this steady diet of combat regalia, Georgie was convinced that the profession of arms was his calling. And that was not a far-fetched dream because he did live up to his expectations and dreams as he worked his way though the ranks to become a great general and lead his troops to countless victories. .
             Although he was a great man through his eventful leadership, however, " All Good Things Must Come To An End." as they say and they did when Patton died In December 1945 when a truck hit his car and he was severely injured. On December 21st he died from these injures and was buried in Luxembourg, a country which still considers George S. Patton its liberator.
             The Revolver was a great invention Although the earliest examples of the revolver date from the second half of the 16th century, And a usable multi firing weapon of the pistol type, called the pepperbox, appeared in the first quarter of the 19th century, it was not until Samuel Colt patented his revolving pistol that the revolver won a place as one of the world's standard small arms. Colt's weapon was a pistol with a revolving cylinder, capable of firing several shots without reloading.
