Ephedrine is controversial. There is research that says ephedrine is bad for everyone and research that says ephedrine is safe if used properly. Recently, the Food and Drug Administration issued a proposal calling for the manufacturers of these diet products to include a warning to their customers about the dangers of high doses of ephedrine. However, many of the warnings for these diet pills are written in very fine print, so people skip the warnings and read the part that says "benefits and guaranteed weight loss". .
One of the dangers of taking ephedrine-based pills is that, it suppresses your appetite, which in turn causes you to consume fewer calories. Even though, this may seem great at first, reducing your caloric intake slows down your metabolism, and the amount of weight you lose also slows down. This is what leads many people to abuse their intake of diet pills. Many people feel that if you double the recommended dose, you will lose weight faster. Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way, and abusing these pills may cause more harm to your body. Some of the possible side effects of the use of ephedrine are: increased blood pressure, increased heart rate, headaches, light-headedness, dizziness, hyperactivity, blurred vision, and sometimes death. These warnings are not enough for people to avoid using diet pills. Many choose to ignore reading labels before taking in any of these pills. The thoughts of obtaining a perfect body overpower one's reasoning.
