             The patricians were the rich and powerful people of the senate of ancient Rome who governed the city from the Senate. The Romans believed in making their son's fine soldiers so after he became a Roman citizen he was enlisted on his first military campaign. After service military service the son of a patrician almost always entered into politics. The Roman people believed in passing down there family tradition in politics.
             Rome was also big on the theater performances they had. The plays they had in Rome were much different from the ones of today. Theater played a major part in their culture as a people. The plays in the theater kept people busy and happy because many of the plays served as a means to relate to their every day life. .
             The actors wore masks brown was worn by men, white for women, smiling or sad depending on the type of play. The costumes showed the audience who the person was in relation to the story a purple gown for a rich man, a striped toga for a boy, a short cloak for a soldier, a red toga for a poor man, a short tunic for a slave. Women were not allowed act, so a man or young boys wearing a white mask normally played their parts.
             Along with background music the actors spoke there lines, but a second actor mimed the gestures to fit the lines.
